Prayagraj, 03 August (HS). Professor Satyakam, Vice Chancellor of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University Prayagraj said that the open university has to be made a skill hub. For this, the university will provide skill-based education by joining with the industry of Kanpur region. He said that 14 state open universities agree that the responsibility of providing distance education should be of the open universities only.
A one day workshop of all the study centres coming under the regional centre Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University Prayagraj was organised on Saturday at the regional office Kanpur. Chief guest Prof Satyakam said that the two-mode education system is a crisis for the entire system. In this regard, an appeal has been made to the UGC to reconsider it. In distance education philosophy, access to quality education to learners can be accomplished through excellent self study material. Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University is the only university in the entire state which is providing self study material to its students. For this, all the teachers of the university are actively involved in preparing self study material.
In the workshop, Professor J P Yadav, Admission In-charge from the University and Dr. Girish Kumar Dwivedi resolved the queries of the coordinators while giving information about the new schemes of the University. Before this, the guests were welcomed by the coordinator of Kanpur Regional Center, Dr. Rekha Tripathi. Coordinators of all the 9 districts Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Auraiya, Etawah, Hamirpur, Kannauj, Unnao, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur etc. coming under the Regional Center Kanpur were present. Principals and coordinators Dr. Amit Dwivedi, Dr. Vikas Singh, Dr. Vijay Pratap Singh, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Sameer Kumar Jai Mangal Singh, Dr. Vandana etc. who came to the organized workshop pointed out various problems coming at the centers and gave many important suggestions.
