Rain wreaks havoc in Jharkhand, bridge over river in Bokaro washed away, red alert in two districts

Ranchi, August 3 (HS). In Jharkhand, after heavy rain on Friday due to the cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, the intermittent rain on Saturday disrupted normal life. Fields and ponds are filled with water. In view of the rain, all schools were closed on Saturday. Many bridges have collapsed. The diversion built on the Murgu river on NH-75 in Ratu police station area of ​​Ranchi was washed away late Friday night due to the strong flow of water. With this, the main connection of Ranchi to Mandar, Lohardaga, Medininagar and Chatra was cut off. However, there was no loss of life or property.

It rained from morning till late evening in the capital Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Chatra, Koderma and Khunti. Waterlogging on roads in cities made it difficult for people to walk. The rain has slowed down the pace of cities. Water has entered houses in low-lying areas. A bridge built over the Bokaro river at a cost of crores in Gomia block of Bokaro district was washed away on Saturday morning. A villager is also reported to have been swept away during this incident.

The Mukhiya said that it has been raining heavily in Gomia block for the last 24 hours. The water level of Bokaro river has risen. A part of the bridge broke and got washed away in the strong current of the river. Traffic has come to a complete halt due to the washing away of this bridge connecting Gomia and Petarwar path of Bokaro district. The river is overflowing. Due to this, traffic between Petarwar and Hazaribagh has come to a halt. Not a single bus going to the capital Ranchi left from Bokaro on Saturday.

There are flood-like conditions in the lower parts of Ranchi. Water has entered hundreds of houses. NDRF team has been deployed to rescue the people trapped in the water. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that holiday has been declared in all government and private schools today (August 3). The temperature has dropped by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius due to the rain.

Ranchi meteorologist Abhishek Anand said on Saturday that the depression formed in northern Jharkhand and its surrounding areas moved westward at a speed of five kilometers per hour during the last six hours. From 3 am to 5:30 am on Saturday, it remained centered in the same area near 24.2 degrees north latitude and 84.6 degrees east longitude, which is about 70 kilometers south-southwest of Gaya (Bihar) and 60 kilometers east-northeast of Daltonganj (Jharkhand). During the next 48 hours, it may move west-northwestward in northwest Jharkhand, southeast Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining northern Chhattisgarh.

Water level of Bhairavi river increased due to heavy rain

It has been raining continuously for the last 48 hours in Ramgarh district, due to which the rivers have flooded. The water level of Damodar and Bhairavi rivers has increased. Due to the flood in Bhairavi river, water has also entered the temple of Rajrappa Maa Chhinnamastika. The main gate has been closed for the devotees there. Devotees are being allowed to enter from another gate.

The water of Bhairavi river has reached the Bali Sthal. Water has entered other roads as well, due to which people are facing problems. Hundreds of shops near the main gate of Rajrappa temple have suffered heavy losses due to water entering them. Ramgarh district administration and people of the temple trust committee have instructed the devotees to remain alert. Also, bathing in the river has been banned. Temple committee members say that there is a flood right now, due to which there is a possibility of loss of life and property. If devotees enter the river now to bathe, they may be in danger. In Ramgarh too, the district administration has put people living on the banks of the Damodar river on high alert. Even cattle keepers have been instructed not to go to the river bank.

Koel and Amanat rivers are in spate in Palamu

The Koel and Amanat rivers have been flooded due to the rains that have been going on for the last 72 hours. The highest water is being seen in these rivers this season, due to which there is a danger in the low-lying areas. However, the administration has alerted the people. The situation is being monitored. It is still raining and there is a possibility of further increase in the water level. The State Disaster Management Department has informed about heavy rains on Saturday regarding the warning issued by the Meteorological Department and has advised to remain alert.

Due to the rains since Thursday, the Koel river was in spate on Saturday morning. Due to continuous waterlogging, a flood occurred. In Shahpur of Chainpur block, water came on the road along the Koel river. For some time, water rose above the stairs on the Marine Drive along the Koel river in Medininagar, but after some time the water layer decreased. Due to the increase in the water level of Koel river, the layer of hand pumps, wells and other water sources has increased considerably on the river bank and in the surrounding 10 to 15 kilometer area. The borings which were dry till yesterday have got plenty of water.
