New rule for medical students: A new rule has come for medical students. Any student who leaves studies midway in medical and dental colleges will not be given admission in the next academic session. This rule is applicable for students studying undergraduate, post graduate and super specialty courses. These rules have been implemented as per the instructions of the National Medical Commission (NMC). At the same time, a fine of Rs 5 lakh will not be charged from students who leave studies.

Director General of Medical Education Kinjal Singh issued these instructions to all medical and dental colleges in Lucknow on Friday. In such a situation, students taking admission in courses like MBBS, MD, MS, MCH, BDS and MDS will have to think a lot before leaving their studies midway. So far, after paying a fine of Rs. 5 lakh, they left their studies midway and took admission in another course in the next semester.

Now if they do so, they will have to wait for a year for admission as they will not be able to get admission in the next session. NMC has implemented this rule from the academic session 2024-25. This rule will not apply to those students who have taken admission in the previous academic session. He can vacate his seat by paying the fine and he will not be barred from admission in the next session.

In MBBS and BDS courses, 25 students who were allotted seats in three rounds of stray vacancy round in the last semester did not take admission. Out of which 17 are MBBS and eight are BDS course students. Now they will not get a chance to participate in the MBBS and BDS admission process in this academic session. Their security deposit has also been confiscated.
