Amid rise in gold prices again cross 73000: Silver also rises

Mumbai: Gold and silver prices rose in the Mumbai jewellery market today. News from global markets was encouraging. As job growth data in the US weakened and the unemployment rate rose, raising the possibility of further interest rate reduction, there were signs of increased buying of gold by funds globally amid a fall in the dollar index and bond yields. Globally, gold prices today rose from 2451 to 2452 to 2473 to 2475 dollars an ounce.

Today, the price of gold in the global market rose by Rs 500 from 99.50 to Rs 72800 and silver from 73000 to Rs 99.90. Ahmedabad silver price rose by Rs 500 to Rs 84500 per kg. However, platinum, palladium and crude oil prices witnessed a decline.

Meanwhile, the price of gold in Mumbai bullion market today rose by Rs 69,442 to Rs 70,110 at 99.50 from Rs 69,442 excluding GST. The price of 99.90 rose by Rs 69721 to Rs 70392 from Rs 70475. The price of silver in Mumbai today rose from Rs 83464 to Rs 83542 without GST.

Gold and silver prices in Mumbai with DST were 3 per cent higher than this price. Meanwhile, platinum prices in the world market were at $ 971 to $ 972 after falling to between $ 977 and $ 958 from $ 974 to $ 975 an ounce.

Palladium prices fell from 930 and 931 to 899 and 918 before settling at 906 and 907 dollars. Crude oil prices are falling after breaking the rally. Brent crude prices fell from $81.26 a barrel to trade at $78.72 to $78.76 a barrel, while US crude prices fell from $78.25 to trade at $75.22 to $75.25 a barrel.

There was news that OPEC, the organization of petroleum exporting countries, has maintained its current policy of reducing production. OPEC sources were suggesting that production could be increased from October. Meanwhile, job growth in America was expected to be 1.75 lakh instead of 1 lakh 14 thousand and there was news that the unemployment rate has increased from 4.10 to 4.30 percent.

In the Mumbai currency market today, the price of dollar against rupee was Rs 83.73 to Rs 83.76 and Rs 83.72 to Rs 83.74. The price of pound fell from Rs 106.80 to Rs 106.41 to Rs 106.68 to Rs 106.69. However, the euro rose from Rs 90.38 to Rs 90.62. At the same time, it is reported that the global index of dollar today fell from 104.43 to 104.09 to 104.14 to 104.15.
