The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced new rules regarding employee PF accounts. This change is for all PF account holders. EPFO has introduced some new rules to correct and update the details in the PF account. So know which rule has been implemented by EPFO?

EPFO issued SOP

EPFO has issued a new standard operating procedure (SOP) for correction in personal information like name, date of birth. Under which SOP version 3.0 has been approved to update the profile of members. Now after this new rule, documents will have to be provided to correct the UAN profile. You can also apply by giving a declaration. EPFO said in its guidelines that it has been seen many times that many types of mistakes happen, which people have to face great difficulties to correct. This problem arises due to non-updating of data. In such a situation, these guidelines have been presented.

There will be changes in two categories

  • According to the new guidelines, under the new instructions, EPFO has divided the changes in the profile into major and minor categories.
  • Minor changes will require at least two required documents to be submitted along with the joint declaration request.
  • While for major amendments at least three required documents need to be submitted.
  • Field offices have been asked to exercise extra caution while updating members' profiles to prevent any malpractice or fraud.
  • At the same time, for major changes, at least three important documents have to be provided.
  • In case of Aadhaar related changes, Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar card linked with an active mobile number will suffice as a supporting document.

How many documents for change?

  • For minor changes a minimum of 2 documents from the document list is required.
  • Major changes require at least 3 documents from the document list.
  • EPF members can submit joint declaration for correction through e-Seva portal.
  • Only the data relating to the EPF account managed by the current employer can be modified.
  • The employer has no right to make any changes in the EPF account of previous or other organisations.
  • EPFO said it is the responsibility of the member to submit the application through his/her registered portal login.
