Mumbai, 29 February (HS). Yogesh Sawant, vice president of the social media cell of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), has been arrested by the police for making controversial comments on social media about Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The court has sent Sawant to judicial custody for 14 days. The police is investigating this matter thoroughly.
According to the information, a Maratha protester had expressed his anger against Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 'Gavran Analyst' YouTube channel. After this, an NCP social media official had made a controversial comment on this YouTube. Later, its complaint was lodged by Shiv Sena Shinde group official Akshay Panwalkar at Santa Cruz Police Station. After Akshay's complaint, police arrested Yogesh Sawant from Navi Mumbai.
The matter was raised by BJP MLA Ram Shinde in the Assembly and accused Sharad Pawar's grandson MLA Rohit Pawar of calling the police station to save the accused. After this Rohit Pawar said that Yogesh Sawant is our worker, hence he did not commit any mistake by calling the police station. Yogesh Sawant is working in support of Sharad Pawar. After arresting him, the police have kept him for a day and they will meet him themselves.
