More than 700 devotees stranded due to cloudburst in Kedarnath, rescue operation underway

Kedarnath Rescue Operation: Two bodies were found buried under debris in Lincholi on Friday, three days after a cloudburst and landslide on the Kedarnath trek route. “The deceased has not been identified yet and has not even been registered as a missing person,” Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar said, quoting the Rudraprayag district administration.

Due to heavy rains, more than 150 devotees and some locals could not contact their families even on the third day. Mobile service is also closed in Kedarnath, a large number of pilgrims are reaching Chaumasi through the forests, there is no mobile service on this route. After the incident of cloudburst on the footpath of Kedarnath on Wednesday night, complaints of more than 150 such people have been lodged in the police control room who are not in contact with their families.

Superintendent of Police Stenographer Narendra Rawat said, 'More than 150 complaints have been registered over the phone in the control room by family members, who have said that they are not in touch with their families since Wednesday. More than seven hundred passengers are still to be rescued, all of them are stranded in Kedarnath Dham. Only after the complete rescue, the situation will be clear as to how many are actually missing or not.'
