Palamu, 2 August (HS). The Disaster Management Department has issued a high alert in view of the possibility of heavy rains in Jharkhand including Palamu. Meanwhile, complying with this, the Medininagar Municipal Corporation has issued an alert with a warning. People living in low-lying areas have been advised to be cautious while not going to the banks of the Koel River.
On Friday, the Municipal Corporation publicised this in the Marine Drive area on the banks of the Koel River. Meanwhile, only 14.08 mm of rain was recorded in Palamu district during the last 24 hours. Palamu's rainfall is the lowest in Jharkhand. The highest rainfall of 83.5 mm was recorded in Bokaro.
The Municipal Corporation has appealed to the citizens to remain alert. The officials of the corporation have announced that no person should go to the areas near the river bank or try to enter the river. The corporation has taken this step keeping in mind the dangers of possible floods and rising water levels. It has been told that due to heavy rains, the water level of Koel river may increase suddenly, which may endanger life and property. Floods in Koel river occur due to heavy rains in the upper part.
Here, the local administration has also assured to take all necessary steps and advised the citizens to stay in safe places. The disaster management department of the district has instructed the rescue team to remain alert. Citizens have been appealed to immediately inform the administration in case of any emergency and stay safe.
