Baby care center fire incident: Court takes cognizance of Delhi Police's charge sheet, hearing on August 8

New Delhi, August 2 (HS). Delhi's Karkardooma Court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet filed by Delhi Police in the Vivek Vihar Baby Care Center fire case. Chief Judicial Magistrate Vidhi Gupta Anand has referred the matter to the Sessions Judge for further hearing. The next hearing of the case will be on August 8.

Delhi Police filed a chargesheet in this case on 24 July. In the chargesheet, hospital owner Dr Naveen Keechi and Dr Akash have been made accused. In the chargesheet, Delhi Police has filed charges against the accused under Sections 304, 308, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

It is noteworthy that on May 25, a fire broke out in Vivek Vihar Baby Care Center, in which 7 children died. 12 innocent children were admitted in this hospital. When the fire broke out, the police, fire department, hospital staff and common people somehow rescued all the 12 children through the window present in the rear part of the hospital building.

After this incident, Delhi Police arrested the hospital owner Dr Naveen Keechi and a doctor Akash. Dr Akash has a BAMS degree. According to Delhi Police, this hospital had permission for only five beds but it was being run with 12 beds. During the investigation, not a single fire extinguisher cylinder was found in the hospital premises. The hospital also did not have an emergency exit gate in case of an emergency. The license of the hospital had also expired.

The Karkardooma Court had rejected the bail plea of ​​Dr. Akash. The Delhi Police had opposed the bail plea of ​​Dr. Akash and said that if he is granted bail, then the evidence and proofs can be tampered with.
