The case of the death of 3 UPSC students in a coaching centre in Delhi was heard once again in the High Court on Friday. During the hearing on the petition demanding a high-level investigation, the court made several important observations. The bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan also pointed out several flaws in the system of Delhi and the increasing population of the city. The judge also said that the population of Delhi is continuously increasing due to subsidies.
According to Bar and Bench, the acting Chief Justice of the High Court said, 'Today the population of Delhi is 3.3 crores and this number is constantly increasing. Why? Because there is subsidy in Delhi. These are big policy decisions. We know where Delhi is going. There is a need to discuss this issue. During the last hearing also, the court had commented on the free schemes of the Delhi government. Then the court said that if the government does not want to collect tax from the people, then where will the money come from for infrastructure?
The court also raised many questions on the governance system of Delhi and said that there are many authorities here, but no one takes responsibility. During the hearing, the acting Chief Justice also commented on encroachment in Delhi and the functioning of the MCD. He said, 'Water can enter your or my house. This is the problem of Delhi that Yamuna has also been encroached upon. The mentality of the common citizens of Delhi is that Yamuna will keep flowing, encroachment does not make any difference.
