Star Indian badminton player PV Sindhu has suffered defeat in the pre-quarterfinals of Paris Olympics 2024. She lost to Bing Jiao of China 21-19 and 21-14. Due to this, her journey in the Paris Olympics has come to an end. With this, she has also missed out on making a big record. Sindhu could not stand in front of the Chinese player and had to face defeat. This is the first time that Sindhu will return from the Olympics without a medal. Earlier, she has played two Olympics and won medals in both.
PV Sindhu has won two medals in the Olympics. She won a silver medal in Rio Olympics 2016 and a bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020. In Tokyo, she won the bronze medal by defeating Bing Jiao of China. But Bing Jiao defeated her and settled the old score. If Sindhu had won a medal in the Paris Olympics, she would have become the first Indian athlete to win three consecutive medals in the history of the Olympics. But this could not happen, Jiao has shattered Sindhu's dream.
PV Sindhu's match against Bing Jiao lasted 56 minutes. Sindhu did not have a good start in the match. She made some mistakes while Jiao hit some accurate smashes which gave the Chinese player a 5-1 lead. Sindhu was having difficulty moving on the court and she hit some shots out, giving the Chinese player a chance to take a 7-2 lead. The Indian player then tried to make a comeback by scoring some good points but Jiao was ahead 11-8 till the break. Sindhu put pressure on the Chinese player.
She also got the benefit of luck when three very close points went in her favour and Sindhu managed to equalize the score at 12-12. Bing Jiao took a 19-17 lead by hitting Sindhu's body strongly. The Indian player scored two consecutive points to make the score 19-19. The Chinese player got the game point by hitting a shot on the line and then after a long rally, won the first game 21-19 in 30 minutes with a cross court smash.
Let us tell you that in the second game also, Bing Jiao troubled Sindhu with her smash and managed to take an 8-2 lead with six consecutive points. Sindhu took three consecutive points to make the score 5-8, but Jiao took five consecutive points to take a strong lead of 13-5. Sindhu hit some shots in between which put the Chinese player ahead 16-8. After Sindhu's out shot, Bing Jiao took a 19-11 lead. The Indian player scored two consecutive points but then Bing Jiao scored seven match points by playing a shot in the last part of the court. Sindhu saved one match point, but then hit the shot wide and put the game and the match in Bing Jiao's bag.
