More than 200 people have died due to heavy rains and landslides in Wayanad. At the same time, landslides have also occurred in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains. According to the information received, due to heavy rains in Kedarnath since July 31, the road leading to the temple between Sonprayag and Gaurikund Marg has been washed away. There is a possibility of cloudburst again in the Kedarnath area.

However, according to the calculations of the Meteorological Department, if there is more than 100 mm of rain in an hour, it is considered a cloud burst. Nainital and Dehradun received more than 50 mm of rain in an hour. The changing pattern of rainfall is being linked to climate change. Heavy rainfall in a short period of time in mountainous areas brings the disaster of landslides. Due to prolonged flooding, rocks start breaking.

Even the roads through which pedestrians used to pass have been marked off. Due to heavy rains, soil has gone into the river and hills are sliding, due to which the road about 1 km from the main market of Sonprayag has been damaged. Not only this, beyond Sonprayag, around Gaurikund, Van Chatti, Bhimbali police post area and Lincholi area, barriers have been erected on the pedestrian paths at many places.

The local administration has shifted about 200 pilgrims who had reached Kedarnath for darshan to a safe place. Nearby shops were also evacuated. Due to heavy rains, the water level of Mandakini river also increased. However, it is below the danger mark. The Meteorological Department of Dehradun has issued a red alert with the possibility of heavy rains in many areas of the state. So far, the total rainfall of the season has increased by more than 145 percent. Rudraprayag district has received 16 percent more rainfall than normal.
