Wayanad: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Thursday visited the landslide-affected area in Wayanad. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi termed the accident as a national disaster. He demanded an action plan for the rehabilitation of the area.
Rahul Gandhi said that it is difficult to talk to many victims at this time. Comparing this incident with the death of his father Rajiv Gandhi, he said that he is still feeling the same pain that he felt after his father's death. Since many victims have lost their entire family and home along with their father, it is impossible to imagine their pain.
Rahul and sister Priyanka Gandhi first visited the landslide-affected Churalmala area of Wayanad. During this, wearing a raincoat, they crossed a temporary bridge made of wood amid heavy rain and mud. From here, both the doctors visited the Moopen Medical College and the health center in Meppadi, where the bodies of the victims have been kept.
Priyanka Gandhi said that she is trying to find out how to help the victims in times of trouble. For this, she said that she will be in Wayanad on Friday as well. During this visit, Congress General Secretary and MP KC Venugopal along with other Congress leaders were present.
