The government is getting huge revenue from GST collection in the country. According to government data, gross GST collection has increased by 10.3 percent to Rs 1,82,075 crore in July-2024. After refunds, the net GST revenue for July-2024 is Rs 1,44,897 crore. Which shows an increase of 14.4 percent compared to this period last year.

During April-July-2024, GST revenue increased by 10.2 percent year-on-year to Rs 7,38,894 crore. If seen at the state level, Maharashtra comes at number-1. It has the highest GST collection of Rs 28,970 crore. It was followed by Karnataka with Rs 13,025 crore, Gujarat with Rs 11,015 crore, Tamil Nadu with Rs 10,490 crore and UP with Rs 9,125 crore. These collection figures also include GST on goods.

Earned a lot in the month of June

Let us tell you that in the month of June, GST collection crossed 1.74 lakh crores. In which CGST was 39,586 crores and SGST was 33,548 crores. In May, the government's GST collection was 1.73 lakh crore rupees. Which was a record 10 percent more than the GST collection in May last year. In the month of May last year, this figure was 1.57 lakh crore rupees.

Last year the revenue was Rs 20.18 lakh crore

Releasing the report last month, the gross tax collection from GST in the country during the financial year 2023-24 was Rs 20.18 lakh crore. Which is 11.7 percent more than the tax collection of the last financial year 2022-23. In the interim budget presented in February this year, the government had increased the target of direct tax collection for the financial year 2023-24 to Rs 19.45 lakh crore. At the same time, the target for indirect taxes including GST, customs duty and excise duty was reduced to Rs 14.84 lakh crore. According to the revised estimate, the government expects a total gross tax collection of Rs 34.37 lakh crore in the financial year 2023-24.
