Cloud burst in Himachal: A vegetable market building near Manikaran valley in Kullu district collapsed like a pack of cards within a few minutes. People saw the vegetable market building, built at a cost of lakhs of rupees, falling into the Parvati river.

Looking at both the buildings of Vanaspati Mandi near Parvati river, it was already evident that they could collapse any time. Due to departmental negligence, lakhs of rupees have been spent on such places.

The locals were shocked to see the building collapse. Now once again the people of Manikaran Valley have to go to Bhuntar Sabzi Mandi, about 50 kilometers away.

Shat Sabji Mandi was dedicated to the public on 13 July 2017. But after a year, the purchase of fruits and vegetables was started here.

12 to 15 commission agents buy things from this market. So for some years, people here used to sell fruits and vegetables in the Short Shak Market only.

During this period, the production of fruits and vegetables is at its peak in the Manikaran valley. Nowadays, the pear business is booming. The apple season will start soon. In such a situation, vegetable and fruit vendors may face problems due to the collapse of the vegetable market building.
