
Tax income: During the month of July of the current year, the Gujarat State Tax Department has recorded a whopping Rs 9,725 crore revenue by way of GST, VAT and electricity duty as well as trade tax, showing a robust growth of 19 per cent as compared to the same period last year.
The state has increased its revenue under GST by 12 per cent to Rs 5,838 crore during July 2024. Apart from this, the state's income from VAT has also increased significantly to Rs 2,974 crore, Rs 892 crore from electricity duty and Rs 21 crore from trade tax during the period under review.
With this, the state tax department received Rs 39,350 crore through GST, VAT, electricity duty and trade tax during the first 4 months of the financial year 2024-25, which is more than 14 percent compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
