Indians can legally keep this much alcohol at home, check state-wise limit

Actually, according to the law, only a certain amount of alcohol is allowed to be kept at home, for which every state has different rules. In such a situation, let us know how much amount of alcohol is right to keep at home.

Every state has different rules for keeping alcohol at home

Delhi- People living in Delhi can keep up to 18 liters of alcohol in their house. This includes both beer and wine. At the same time, people here are allowed to keep more than 9 liters of rum, whiskey, vodka or gin. If a person has to take alcohol out of Delhi, then he can take only one liter of alcohol.

Haryana- In Haryana, a person can carry up to 6 bottles of local liquor (750 ml each), 18 bottles of IMFL (750 ml each), up to 6 bottles of imported foreign liquor, 12 bottles of beer (650 ml), 6 bottles of rum (750 ml). Apart from this, a person can also carry up to 6 vodka/cider/gin bottles (750 ml), and 12 wine bottles.

Punjab- As per the legal limit in Punjab, any person can possess 1.5 liters of foreign alcoholic beverages (both manufactured in India and imported). Apart from this, people living in this state are also allowed to possess 2 liters to 6 liters of beer.

Uttar Pradesh: People living in Uttar Pradesh can possess 1.5 litres of foreign alcoholic beverages (both manufactured in India and imported), 2 litres of wine, and 6 litres of beer as per the legal limits.

Andhra Pradesh- Residents of Andhra Pradesh can keep three bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) or foreign liquor and six bottles of beer at their home without a permit.

Arunachal Pradesh- Possession of more than 18 litres of IMFL or country liquor without a valid liquor licence is prohibited in Arunachal Pradesh under the Excise Act.

West Bengal: Here a person above the age of 21 can purchase and store up to 6 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (each of 750 ml). Apart from this, they can store up to 18 beer bottles without a license.

Assam- The maximum number of bottles that can be sold for retail sale in Assam is 12 bottles of IMFL, 4.5 litres of rectified or denatured spirit and 3 bottles (750 ml each) per person per day.

Goa- Residents here can keep 12 IMFL bottles, 24 beer bottles, 18 country liquor bottles and 6 bottles of rectified and denatured spirits at home.

Himachal Pradesh: Here a person can keep 48 beer bottles and 36 whiskey bottles at home.

Kerala- In Kerala, keeping 3 litres of IMFL and 6 litres of beer at home is allowed.

Madhya Pradesh- A high-income individual can afford to keep 100 “expensive” liquor bottles at home.

Maharashtra- A license is required for anyone to consume alcohol in Maharashtra. Additionally, people here need permits to purchase, transport and consume domestic and imported alcoholic beverages.

Rajasthan- Up to 12 bottles (or nine litres) of IMFL can be stored at home.

Jammu and Kashmir: People living here can keep 12 bottles of IMFL (including 750 ml JK Desi Whisky) and 12 bottles of beer (650 ml each) in their homes.

States with prohibition of alcohol: Mizoram, Gujarat, Bihar, Nagaland and Lakshadweep are prohibition states. Alcohol is completely banned in these states. If someone violates the law here, it can have serious consequences.
