My daughters have been held hostage: Nitish

B. in 1988 R. Actor Nitish Bhardwaj, who became a household name by playing the role of Lord Krishna in Chopra's TV serial 'Mahabharat', has filed allegations against his ex-wife, Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer Smita Bhardwaj, of mentally torturing her for 12-13 years. A complaint has been lodged with the police. , Former Lok Sabha MP Nitish Bhardwaj has also said that Smita does not even allow me to meet our twin daughters. I have also met Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and told him with full evidence. I feel that being a senior IAS officer, Smita can use her position to put pressure on the police. The Chief Minister has told me that he will help me if needed. Bhopal Police Commissioner has handed over the responsibility of investigating the entire matter to the Additional SP.

This was the second marriage of both Nitish and Smita.

Nitish Bhardwaj married Smita on 14 March 2009. This was her second marriage and the case is currently pending in the family court after Nitish filed for divorce in 2019. Nitish was first married to Monisha Patil in 1991 and they got divorced in 2005.

I suspect that Smita is mentally unstable.

Nitish Bhardwaj said, I am worried about my daughters because they have been kept away from me for the last 4 years. Both have completed 11 years. This is not normal behaviour. It is his habit to take advantage of people's sympathy by lying. I think his mental balance is not good. I have also demanded an inquiry into his sanity under Section 12 of the Family Court Act.

Nitish Bhardwaj has been a BJP MP

Nitish Bhardwaj was elected Lok Sabha MP from Jamshedpur on BJP ticket in 1996. In this election he defeated Inder Singh Namdhari. However, in the 1999 elections he lost to Laxman Singh, brother of the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijay Singh. Nitish has also worked in the state BJP organization.
