Ranchi, August 1 (HS). On Thursday, the fifth day of the monsoon session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, Speaker Ravindranath Mahato suspended 18 BJP MLAs. He took this action on the proposal of MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu. Referring to rules 299 and 310, the Speaker said that I am free to take a decision for this and this is our privilege, after which he took the decision to suspend 18 opposition MLAs.
In fact, since Wednesday night, BJP MLAs stayed in the assembly premises demanding the government's reply on jobs and unemployment allowance. After this, as soon as the proceedings of the house started on Thursday morning, Giridih MLA Sudhivya Kumar Sonu named several MLAs and demanded action from the speaker, after which the speaker named several opposition leaders and suspended them, saying that their conduct was not in accordance with the house.
After the suspension of 18 MLAs, Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri said that today the speaker has murdered democracy in broad daylight. The attitude adopted by the speaker without any fault shows that the government has become autocratic. We have been suspended in this manner at the behest of Sudivya Kumar Sonu. Today, for the first time in the history of India, 18 MLAs have been suspended. There is no account of the election promises on which the government came to power. The speaker has snatched our rights. Congress had earlier imposed emergency, today Congress-JMM together have imposed an undeclared emergency. Media persons have also been banned from going there.
Amar Bauri said that you can see the previous video of the speaker who is talking about his conduct. How he used to behave. We have not behaved in any such way, yet we have been suspended. The public is watching this attitude of the government. The public will uproot them in the assembly elections. The speaker is challenging by raising his hand. Looking at him, it does not seem that he is the speaker of the assembly. No speaker has behaved like this till date.
