New Delhi, 01 August (HS). The landslide in Wayanad, Kerala on Tuesday has caused a lot of loss of life and property. So far 167 people have died in this disaster. The army is taking charge and engaged in relief and rescue operations in the affected areas. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra have reached Kerala.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a jibe at Rahul Gandhi's visit, saying that he was absent from his parliamentary constituency for five years. In a post shared on the X forum on Thursday, BJP national spokesperson CR Kesavan said that now is not the time for allegations and counter-allegations, but it is clear that Rahul Gandhi never took care of the people while being an MP there. He was absent from his parliamentary constituency.
He said that instead of these visits, if Rahul Gandhi had visited his constituency Wayanad frequently and had taken proactive action to understand the problems like landslides, floods in the area and take preventive measures, it would have made a difference to the area.
He said that the brave Indian Army soldiers are selflessly trying to save the people trapped in Wayanad, Kerala, but Rahul Gandhi is busy politicizing the same army. No one will ever forget these efforts of Rahul Gandhi. He said that instead of these symbolic visits at the time of elections, if Rahul Gandhi had visited his constituency Wayanad regularly and paid attention to the ground, then measures could have been taken in advance to deal with problems like landslides and floods in a land-rich area like Wayanad, but he never did so.
