ASP kidnapped by terrorists in Manipur released by security forces

Additional SP Amit Myengbam was rescued by police and security forces on Wednesday after he was kidnapped from his residence in Manipur on Tuesday. The ASP was kidnapped by activists of Meitei organization Aramabai Tenggol. The incident occurred around 6.20 pm on Tuesday in Imphal East. Officials said that ASP Amit has been admitted to the hospital. His condition is stable. In relation to this kidnapping incident that came to light yesterday, the police have registered a case and started investigation. Army has once again been deployed to control tension in Imphal East. Four teams of Assam Rifles are deployed in the area. In fact, a few days ago, ASP Amit had arrested six members of Meitei organization Arambai Tenggol in a vehicle theft case. The organization was protesting for the release of its comrades. About 200 workers of the organization, including women's groups, were first protesting in front of the Imphal Police Headquarters, then the protest started in front of the ASP's house.

A symbolic protest was lodged by the police commandos

Senior police officers asked the police commandos to maintain composure when over 200 gunmen attacked the ASP's residence, ransacked his residence and abducted the ASP as well as security guards posted outside his residence. On Wednesday, police commandos laid down their arms and registered a symbolic protest against this behavior of senior police officers.
