Heavy rains on Wednesday have caused havoc in Uttarakhand. Many houses have been washed away due to cloudburst at many places, while many people are reported missing. Due to heavy rains in Kedarnath, the Mandakini river has taken a dangerous form. Due to heavy rains, mud has flown on the footpath, due to which debris has fallen on the footpath at many places. The rescue team of SDRF has reached the spot.
In view of the heavy rain alert, the administration had already shifted the pilgrims to safer places. The maximum damage has been reported in Bhimbali and Lyncholi on the Kedarnath walking route. Two bridges built on the Mandakini river in Rambada on the Kedarnath walking route have been washed away. 200 pilgrims have been kept safe in GMVN and police posts due to the road breaking about 70 meters ahead of Bhimbali post on the Kedarnath route. People have been removed from the damaged road.
On the other hand, due to the fierce form of the Mandakini river, the hot spring in Gaurikund has overflowed. The shops and hotels on the banks of the river have been evacuated. Apart from this, in view of the rising water level of the Mandakini river in Sonprayag, the administration has kept the tourists in safe places. The district administration is keeping an eye on every incident.
As a precaution, SDRF, police and disaster relief teams have left for the spot. Due to heavy rains in some parts of Dehradun city, the water level of Bindal river on Chakrata Road has increased. Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple complex in Dehradun is flooded. SDRF and NDRF have been alerted in Sonprayag. People have been asked to remain alert after the water level of the river increased in Sonprayag.
