A Punjabi woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for theft in Britain. This woman has been identified as 54-year-old Narinder Kaur. She had committed theft and robbery in shops for 4 years continuously.
Narinder Kaur started committing thefts in July 2015. She committed several thefts continuously till February 2019. During this time, Narinder Kaur stole goods worth 5 lakh pounds from across the country.
During the hearing in the court, it was revealed that Narinder Kaur used to buy something or the other from the shop before stealing, which no one would suspect. The public prosecutor claimed that Narinder Kaur had made shopkeeping a full-time business. While returning the stolen goods, Narinder Kaur allegedly told stories like one of her close relatives falling seriously ill.
Boots suffered the most and Narinder Kaur received a refund of £60,787 from the company's store even though the items she bought were worth only £5,172. From another store, Narinder Kaur received a refund of £33,000 even though the items she bought were worth just £5,290. According to court documents, Narinder Kaur, alias Nina Thiara, went to several stores in the West Midlands, South Wales and Thames Valley and returned the stolen items, earning her a refund of £23,000.
