Child Care Leave: The Himachal Pradesh government has introduced a new child care leave policy for women employees. The finance department issued a notification on Tuesday. As per the new rules, an eligible female government employee will be entitled to a maximum of 730 days of childcare leave to care for children with at least 40 per cent disability.
This leave can be availed for a maximum of two living children. It can be divided into a maximum of three periods in a calendar year. In special cases, single female employees can avail the benefit for a maximum of six periods.
To support mothers during this period, the government will provide 100 per cent of the salary for the first 365 days of childcare leave and 80 per cent for the subsequent 365 days. Importantly, the leave period will not be deducted from the employee's regular leave account.
The implementation of this policy is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of working women in the state, enabling them to effectively balance their professional and family responsibilities.
