Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared a post congratulating the Indian Navy and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on the seizure of the largest consignment of drugs in recent times. The Home Minister wrote in his post that our agencies have achieved a major achievement in fulfilling Narendra Modi's vision of making India a drug-free nation. This historic achievement is a testament to our government's unwavering commitment to making our country drug free. On this occasion, I congratulate NCB, Navy and Gujarat Police. It is noteworthy that the Navy and NCB team together had seized 3,300 kg of different types of drugs and arrested five crew members, who are Pakistani citizens.
The total drugs seized include 3,089 kg of hashish.
According to reports, the 3,300 kg of drugs seized included 3,089 kg of hashish, 158 kg of methamphetamine and 25 kg of morphine. The Navy says this is the biggest seizure of drugs in recent times. Based on input from P8I LRMR aircraft, which was on surveillance missions over the area, an Indian Navy mission ship was dispatched to divert the suspected drug-laden ship.
