Saharsa, 31 July (HS). Shambhu Yadav, a top 10 criminal of the district and carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh, was arrested by Saharsa police late on Tuesday night. He was absconding for the past several years. Secret information was received about his arrival in Rajanpur. It was learnt that he would disembark from a boat at Bishanpur Ghat under Rajanpur Panchayat of Mahisi block area of the district.
The police surrounded and arrested Shambhu Yadav and his associate Lalit Yadav. On searching them, a loaded country-made pistol was recovered from them. SP Himanshu, while holding a press conference on Wednesday, said that secret information was received that Shambhu Yadav, a resident of Mahisi and a criminal with a reward of one lakh, along with his companions, is planning to commit a criminal act by getting down from the boat at Bishanpur Ghat in Rajanpur Panchayat.
Upon receiving the information, a team was formed comprising of Mahisi Police Station Chief Amarnath Kumar, SI Sujata Rani, Sunil Kumar, Ashok Kumar Ram and police officers and personnel of the District Intelligence Unit and constable Amarendra Kumar Singh posted at Mahisi Police Station.
The formed team laid siege at Bishanpur Ghat. After the siege, Shambhu Yadav, son of Rajo Yadav, resident of Ward No. 2 of Rakti village of Mahisi police station area and Lalit Yadav, son of late Tarani Yadav, resident of Gajwari village of Kusheshwarsthan police station area of Darbhanga district, as soon as they got down from the boat at Bishanpur Ghat, the police surrounded them from all sides. They tried to run away after seeing the police. But they were chased and caught. On searching, a loaded country-made pistol was recovered from them. In this regard, Mahisi police station case number – 219/24 has been registered. A reward of one lakh has been placed on Shambhu Yadav in Saharsa district. He is included in the top 10 criminals. Apart from Saharsa, many cases are also registered against him in Darbhanga, Khagaria and Samastipur for many serious cases including murder and Arms Act.
The Superintendent of Police said that the arrested Shambhu Yadav has a long criminal history. In which Mahisi police station case number 112/18 has been registered for murder and Arms Act. In the same Mahisi police station case number 82/18, he has been charged with murderous attack and Arms Act has been imposed. In case number 132/22 of Kusheshwarsthan (Tilkeshwar OP) police station area of Darbhanga district, a case has been registered for murder and Art Act. In Kusheshwarsthan police station case number 207/22, a case has been registered against him for murder. In Kusheshwarsthan police station case number 416/22, a case has also been registered against him for murder. Whereas in Mahisi police station case number 298/23, he has been charged with murderous attack and Arms Act has been imposed. In Mahisi Police Station Case No. 149/24, he has been charged under the Arms Act. In Mahisi Police Station Case No. 150/24, he has also been charged with attempt to murder.
