Telecom equipment made in India is now being exported to more than 100 countries. This information has been given by the central government. Last year, telecom equipment and services worth $ 18.2 billion were exported from India. Madhu Arora, member (technology) of the Digital Communications Commission under the Department of Telecommunications, said that many local telecom companies have been successful in selling equipment despite tough competition from western countries like the US.

Speaking at the 'Defence Sector ICT Conclave' held in the national capital, Arora said that information and communication technology (ICT) is the backbone of defence operations.
