Ranchi, July 30 (HS). Three farmers died after being struck by lightning in Beddo block of Ranchi district, while five people were injured in this accident, who have been taken to Mandar Referral Hospital for treatment. Two of them have been referred to RIMS Ranchi in critical condition. The rest of the injured are being treated in Mandar itself.
About eight people were burnt in a lightning incident in different villages of Mandar police station area on Tuesday afternoon. All of them were brought to the referral hospital in Mandar, where doctors declared Neeraj Oraon (36), resident of Baski village, Salman Ekka (22), resident of Cambo village and Rajesh Oraon (20), resident of Ratu Tilata, dead, while Abhinash Lohara (16), Laxman Oraon (22), Dhaniya Uraain (45) and Roshni Tigga of Cambo are seriously burnt. On the other hand, a person named Kishun Gop (50) was also injured due to lightning in Mudma Masmano village.
Dr. Kishore Kullu, the doctor in charge of Mandar Referral Hospital, said that 8 people who were burnt due to lightning were brought here, out of which three were declared dead after examination. Among the remaining injured, two people have been referred to Ranchi RIMS. Apart from this, the remaining three patients are being treated at Mandar Referral Hospital itself. At present, the condition of all three is stable.
Mandar Inspector Jai Prakash Rana said that the injured are being treated. All three farmers were struck by lightning while working in the field.
On Tuesday around 4 pm, everyone had gone to the field to plant saplings. Meanwhile, there was a lightning incident along with heavy rain. It is said that Rajesh Oraon, a resident of Ratu Tilata, has his in-laws' house in Birsa Oraon's house in Kambo village. He had come to his in-laws' house from Tilata to plant saplings but he died after being struck by lightning. After this incident, there is mourning in Kambo and Baski villages.
