New Delhi, July 30 (HS). The 46th World Heritage Committee meeting going on at Bharat Mandapam concluded with a colourful programme. In the closing ceremony held on Tuesday, Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat called upon all 165 countries to work together in the conservation of historical heritage. In his address at the closing ceremony, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat thanked all the delegates and said that the 46th World Heritage Committee meeting held in India is a matter of pride. He said that in this historic event, India has always given priority to the conservation and maintenance of cultural heritage. Especially in South Asia, the heritage of the country is of great importance.
He said that India has announced assistance of one million dollars, reflecting its priorities regarding heritage conservation. We have always emphasized on the conservation of cultural heritage. The Government of India, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, has always emphasized on the conservation of heritage along with development. In this ten-day meeting, 24 new heritages have been included in the list of World Heritage. Moidam has also been included in the World Heritage from India. Referring to the exhibition of antiquities brought to India from abroad, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that 25 historical statues have been displayed in the exhibition. He started his address with a shloka from Rig Veda in which he called upon everyone to work together to save the heritage.
On this occasion, World Heritage Committee Chairman Vishal Sharma expressed his gratitude to all the participating countries. The next committee meeting will be held in Bulgaria. On this occasion, Shillong Chamber Choir performed.
