Market closed with marginal gain, Sensex closed at 81,410 points

The stock market started sluggishly on the second day of the week. The stock market closed with a slight gain at 3.30 pm. During the closing session at 3.30 pm, the Sensex closed in the green mark. The Sensex closed at 81,410 points, up 55 points. While the Nifty closed at 24,839 points with a gain of 1 point.

The market remained flat

The Indian stock market closed flat in Tuesday's trading session just like the previous session. The index remained flat but strong action was seen in the stocks of some sectors. This rise in the market was seen due to buying in energy, consumer durables, auto and banking stocks. Midcap and smallcap stocks also saw a jump in today's session.

Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 16 closed with a gain and 14 closed with a loss. Whereas, out of 50 Nifty stocks, 20 closed with a gain and 30 closed with a loss. In today's trade, Tata Motors closed up by 3.58%, NTPC by 3.22%, Power Grid by 1.97%, Asian Paints by 1.60%, Titan by 1.55%, IndusInd Bank by 1.40%, Bajaj Finance by 1.34%, Maruti by 0.9%. While, among the falling stocks, Sun Pharma closed up by 1.42%, ITC by 1.19%, HUL by 0.93%, Bharti Airtel by 0.63%, Reliance by 0.62%.

Sectorol Update

The rise in the Indian stock market is attributed to the shares of energy, consumer durables, auto, banking, metal, media, real estate sector. While the shares of IT, pharma, healthcare, FMCG sector closed with a decline. Due to buying in midcap stocks, the midcap index Nifty closed at the highest level with a gain of 0.44 percent after touching the all-time high level of 58,782 points. There has also been a tremendous rise in smallcap stocks. Nifty's smallcap index also managed to touch the all-time high level of 19,251 points in today's session.

Increase in market cap

The market value has increased due to buying especially in midcap and smallcap stocks. The market value of the shares listed on BSE is Rs. 460.91 lakh crore in the last trading session. It was 459.92 lakh crore. In today's session, the wealth of investors has increased by about one lakh crore rupees.
