CBI files chargesheet against Kejriwal in Rouse Avenue Court

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet in Delhi's Rouge Avenue Court against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others in the excise policy case.

In this case, the court had extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Kejriwal on 25 July. Now the hearing in this case will be held on 8 August. The CBI arrested Kejriwal from Tihar Jail itself. Apart from Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and BRS leader K. Kavitha also appeared in the court through video conferencing in this case. Rouge Avenue Court The judicial custody of Manish Sisodia as well as K. Kavitha has been extended till 31 July. The Delhi High Court today heard Arvind Kejriwal's petition seeking bail in the case filed by the CBI. The High Court has reserved its decision on Monday on the bail plea of ​​​​Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. During the cross-examination, the CBI said that Arvind Kejriwal is the mastermind of this scam. Kejriwal's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued that the investigating agency has no evidence. In response, the CBI said that it has found many evidences after Kejriwal's arrest last month. Aam Aadmi Party leaders are also among those who provided evidence.

Filing of chargesheet does not give right to bail

There was a heated debate on Kejriwal's bail plea in the Delhi High Court. In the court of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, Kejriwal's lawyer objected to an argument of the CBI. The CBI is saying that the Chief Minister should first go to the trial court to get bail. Opposing the bail plea, the CBI had said that since the chargesheet has been filed against Kejriwal, he does not have the right to get bail. Kejriwal has not got bail till now. He has been getting interim bail. The CBI told the court that after Kejriwal's arrest, the agency has found new evidence in the case. Only Kejriwal's workers and candidates have come forward to give evidence. They could not come forward to testify earlier. After completing the investigation of the evidence found last month, the chargesheet has now been filed. The CBI said that Kejriwal was the mastermind of this scam, who had nominated all the ministers.
