Farmers protest: Bharatiya Kisan Union Sidhupur's meeting was held at Dera Baba Dhyan Das Doda in Gidderbaha. Union's state president Jagjit Singh Dallewal attended it specially. Talking to reporters, he said that all the farmers at the district and block level will burn the effigies of the government and take out a tractor march against the Bharatiya Janata Party government on August 15 across the state.
He said that he strongly opposes the selection of six Haryana Police officers for the President's Award for violating the rights of farmers. He said that copies of the new criminal laws will also be burnt on the day of the protest march.
Regarding the meeting with opposition leaders, Dallewal said that he had earlier given a memorandum of demands to all MPs, stating that they would support the MSP guarantee law for farmers and that private members should bring a bill and demand a debate under Article 193 to put pressure on the government to implement Dr Swaminathan's report.
Besides this, the farmers of Doda, Rukhala, Samag, Sukhna Ablu and Khokhar have demanded that the government should reconsider the Malwa Canal Project, which was approved by the Chief Minister yesterday. Bhagwant Mann
