Gandhinagar News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed the upliftment of India's women power at the center of the country's development vision. In particular, he has laid special emphasis on the empowerment of rural women so that they can contribute to the country's economy and live a life of confidence. The women self-help groups started in the state under Mission Mangalam have been effective in this direction. Self-help groups have been strengthened under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. On July 31, the Chief Minister will participate in the “Sakhi Samvad Program” with women of self-help groups in Gandhinagar. The stories of women of Gujarat's villages have become an inspiration for everyone today. For example, in the year 2021-22, 8500 women of the state collected 5 thousand metric tonnes of lemons in three months and earned an income of ₹ 4 crore.
Under the Neem Project by GNFC, lemons are used to make neem coated urea, medicines, neem oil and other products. Women of Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company (GLPC) self-help groups are collecting lemons and earning income by selling them. Under this project, 8500 women from self-help groups of 15 districts of the state have collected lemons during the months of May to July (lemon ripening period) in the year 2021-22 and earned an income of ₹ 4 crore.
Over 3.13 lakh women trained to become self-reliant
Since the launch of Mission Mangalam in 2010, so far more than 3.13 lakh women have been trained in various professions by training institutes in 28 districts of Gujarat to become self-reliant. The training has increased the confidence of women and they have started their own business. This has improved the economic condition of their families.
In the state More than 23 lakh women are covered under insurance and Over 27 lakh families are linked with over 2.79 lakh self-help groups. Of these, over 23 lakh women have benefited from life insurance and health protection under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY).
Loans worth Rs 4338 crores to more than one lakh groups
Loans worth Rs 4338 crore have been given to 118000 groups in the state for various activities under microfinance. 113287 new self-help groups have been formed in the state and 156214 groups have been reactivated. At present, a total of 269,507 self-help groups are working in the state.
Nutri Garden in more than 7 lakh homes,
Agri Nutri Gardens are being promoted with the aim of eliminating malnutrition of more than 10 crores annually and increasing the sources of income for women by organizing fairs to help SHGs establish Nutri Gardens by providing good quality seeds. 7,26,495 households have been covered in Nutri Gardens so far. Apart from this, organizing 10 to 12 annual fairs like Saras Mela, Regional Mela, Rakhi Mela and Navratri provides a market platform for women to earn livelihood by selling their produce.
