Bhopal, 28 July (HS). Monsoon activities have intensified in Madhya Pradesh these days. So far, the state has received 103 percent rainfall in the monsoon season. It has been raining heavily and sometimes lightly in Bhopal since morning. Small rivers of the state are in spate, water is constantly rising in big rivers and dams. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 15 districts of the state including Indore and Jabalpur on Sunday. Although the period of heavy rain will stop on 29-30 July, but the activity of strong system will start again from 31 July.
Earlier on Saturday, flood-like conditions were witnessed in Panna, Shajapur, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Dewas, Pachmarhi, Agar-Malwa. Many villages were cut off from the headquarters. The Meteorological Department said that the monsoon trough line is passing directly from Gwalior, which is further merging into the low pressure area. A low pressure is also active over Bengal. It will move forward in the coming days. As soon as it passes through Central India, there will be a spell of rain in Madhya Pradesh. There is also another trough line, whose activity can be seen from July 31. Due to the strong system, there will be heavy rain again in the state.
Madhya Pradesh has received 16.5 inches of normal rainfall so far, which is 3% more. The western part- Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior-Chambal divisions have received 6% more rain than the average, while the eastern part- Rewa, Sagar, Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions have received 1% less rain. However, Jabalpur division's districts- Seoni, Dindori, Chhindwara, Mandla and Balaghat have received the most rain. Bhopal division is also ahead in terms of rainfall. The state has been receiving heavy rains for the last 11 days. Due to this, water has also increased in dams and ponds. In 24 hours, the Kolar dam in Sehore has received 2 feet of water. Indira Sagar dam has received 3 feet of water. Bargi and Gopikrishna dams are also receiving water. Bhopal's big pond is now empty by about two feet. Water has also increased in Bansagar Dam of Shahdol, Tawa Dam of Narmadapuram, Kaliyasot Dam of Bhopal, Mohanpura and Kundalia Dam of Rajgarh.
