Haridwar, July 27 (HS). The 24th convocation of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee was celebrated in accordance with the glorious tradition of the institute, which showcased the significant achievements of the institute and its graduates. A total of 2513 students were awarded degrees in the ceremony, out of which 1931 men and 582 women received their degrees in various subjects. The program held in the convocation hall was presided over by BOG Chairman BVR Mohan Reddy and the director of the institute, Prof. KK Pant presented the annual report, which mentioned the great achievements and visionary approach of the institute.
Addressing the convocation, Chief Guest NASSCOM President Debjani Ghosh congratulated all the graduates and said that remember that the hard work, dedication and passion of your teachers and family members along with you has brought you to this destination. Ms Ghosh said that I am confident that the knowledge and skills you have acquired here will help you in all your efforts to face all the challenges of your future. Today you have joined a prestigious tradition of IIT Roorkee alumni who have made significant social contributions. She said that remember, this is the beginning of your journey and the world is waiting for your innovations and leadership. Presenting the annual report, IIT Director Prof KK Pant said that this includes obtaining 148 patents and moving its QS World Ranking from 369th to 335th position. Prof Pant emphasized the importance of receiving the Most Innovative Institute Award and Best Clean and Green Campus Award from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the fourth consecutive year.

Medalists of 24th Convocation
Roorkee. Five students who completed B.Tech were honoured with various gold medal awards in the 24th convocation. Among these, the most prestigious award was the President's Gold Medal Award given to Anchitya Nath, a student of Computer Science and Engineering. Along with this, the Director's Gold Medal was given to Parth Sarthi Mishra, a student of Electronics and Communication Engineering, President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal Award was given to Ujjwal Kumar Dubey of Computer Science and Engineering, Institute Silver Medal Award was given to Akshat Agarwal of Computer Science and Engineering and the fifth Institute Bronze Medal Award was given to Riddham Sadana of Integrated M.Tech, Geophysical Technology.
