Kanpur, 27 July (HS). Mushroom is a valuable source of organic manure which is used in horticultural crop production. Mushroom cultivation is beneficial in terms of providing stability to diversity and increasing income. This was said by the university's research director Dr. PK Singh on Saturday at the conclusion of the six-day training program being conducted at the Mushroom Research and Development Center of the Department of Plant Pathology of Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural and Technology University, Kanpur.

He said that mushroom is a nutritious, healthy and easily digestible food item having medicinal properties. The nutrients present in mushroom are essential for the formation, reconstruction and growth of human body. Apart from the nutritional importance of mushroom, mushroom production is a very profitable enterprise. A minimum land size is required for mushroom production.

On this occasion, Nodal Officer Dr. S.K. Vishwas told the trainees present that they should become self-reliant by adopting mushroom farming as an enterprise. Mushroom farming is an excellent means for women and unemployed young men and women to eliminate unemployment.

University's media in-charge Dr. Khalil Khan said that this training started on 22nd July and ended today. About 58 participants including students, entrepreneurs and farmers received training in the training. In the end, all the participants also planted saplings in the campus.
