East Burdwan, July 27 (HS). On Saturday, students of a school in Kalna of the district blocked the Burdwan-Kalna road in protest against the beating and insult of a teacher by the principal.
According to local sources, Dhatrigram High School Headmistress Kaveri Sarkar was late for school last Wednesday. When school teacher Sudarshan Nath asked the Headmistress the reason for her delay, she got angry and the teacher was allegedly beaten up. On Saturday, as soon as the Headmistress reached school, a group of students surrounded her. The students started asking the Headmistress why their teacher Sudarshan Nath was insulted. The Headmistress again got angry after the students asked so much and left the school. After this, the students blocked the road on Kalna-Burdwan road, due to which long queues of vehicles were formed on both sides of the road. On hearing the news, the police reached the spot and after convincing the students, removed them from the road.
However, the principal claims that all the allegations against her are false. She says that everything will become clear only after examining the CCTV. A student of class XI of the school says that the principal often comes late. When we questioned this, she harassed one of our teachers, he was beaten up and had to be admitted to the hospital. We went to ask the principal about this today. At this, she got angry and left the school. After this, we decided to block the road.
