125 prisoners in Tihar Jail infected with HIV: Shocking news is coming from Delhi's Tihar Jail. 125 prisoners have been found HIV positive here. Actually, there are three jails in Delhi's Tihar Jail, Tihar, Rohini and Mandoli. A positive prisoner has been found from there. These HIV positive prisoners are not new, they already have AIDS. Syphilis has also been found in 200 prisoners.

What is the whole matter?

Medical screening of about 10,500 prisoners has been done in Tihar. There are about 14,000 prisoners in the jail. Tihar Jail keeps conducting medical checkups of prisoners from time to time. And currently DG Satish Golcha is in charge of Tihar Jail. And after that, medical checkup of ten and a half thousand prisoners was done in May and June.

In this medical checkup, 10,500 prisoners were tested for HIV. Out of which 125 prisoners were found HIV positive. However, the point to be noted here is that these prisoners have not got AIDS at present, rather when they were brought to jail from outside at different times, their medical tests were done and they were found HIV positive.

Before bringing the prisoners to jail, they were medically examined. Since then they were suffering from AIDS. Now when the prisoners were examined again, only 125 prisoners were found to be suffering from AIDS. Apart from this, 200 prisoners out of 10,500 prisoners were found to be suffering from syphilis.

No TB positive case

Apart from this, not a single case of TB has been found positive in the examination of the prisoners. The protective survey department of Tihar Jail conducted cervical cancer tests of female prisoners in collaboration with AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital. The purpose behind this test was that women are more likely to get cervical cancer.

This test is done carefully so that if cervical cancer is confirmed in a person, it can be treated quickly and cured. It is not that cancer is detected as soon as this test comes positive, rather if it is found that there is a possibility of cervical cancer, then it can be treated by getting the test done on time.
