Son of former Rajya Sabha MP arrested in case of fraud worth crores

Barabanki, 27 July (HS). Amit Kanchal, son of former Rajya Sabha MP Banwari Lal Kanchal, was arrested from his Lucknow residence late Friday night in connection with death threats and fraud worth crores. Apart from Amit, a case has been registered against six other people.

Inspector in charge Ajay Kumar Tripathi said that Rituraj Singh, a resident of Indira Nagar, Lucknow, is the director of Shivratan Builders and Fabricators Company.

And he also deals in land purchase and sale. His company's office is adjacent to the extended boundary of the village Badel Municipality situated on the Barabanki Ayodhya Highway. He needed land for plotting expansion, for which he met Dinesh Singh of Lakhpedabagh Barabanki, the manager of Apple Real Infomart Company situated on Japling Road in Lucknow.

Dinesh Singh assured that his company has the land. After seeing the land, the deal was finalised on 7 August 2019 with Apple Real Inframart Company directors Amit Kanchal, Karuna Matanhelia, Neeraj Matanhelia, Nikunj Matanhelia, Aparna Agarwal and manager Dinesh Singh and another. After this, when he was asked to pay Rs 2.20 crore on different dates and do the deed, he started procrastinating. Meanwhile, he came to know that on 9 January 2024, the opponent Amit Kanchal etc. had fraudulently done the deed of the land of the mentioned Gata number to someone else. After this, when Amit was contacted on the phone, no clear answer was received. On January 14, when Amit was asked to return the money in a phone conversation, he threatened to kill him. He also said that his money has been usurped with the help of a fake company. On this, he has lodged a case against him and other associates in the city police station. The victim party has also handed over the details of the cases registered against Amit Kanchal in various districts to the police.

The Inspector in charge has arrested Amit from his residence in Shastri Nagar, Bazarkhaala, Lucknow. A case has been registered against him and six other people for cheating and threatening.
