Heavy rains have caused havoc in many parts of the country. Floods have caused havoc in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand.
A total of 15 people have died in various tragedies caused by heavy rains in areas including Pune, Mumbai, Thane and Raigad in Maharashtra. Low-lying areas of Pune are flooded, while the Panchganga river in Kolhapur district has crossed the dangerous level, submerging many parts along its banks. Pune received 114 mm of rain in 24 hours. SDRF teams have been deployed in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara and Sangli while NDRF teams have been deployed in 18 other places in the state. Schools and colleges remained closed in Pune on Friday. Examinations in Mumbai University colleges in Raigad and Ratnagiri have also been postponed.
Many bridges damaged in Uttarakhand
Heavy rains occurred at many places in Uttarakhand throughout Thursday night. Due to this, the Banganga river has flooded and water has entered the houses. The roads are flooded. Many bridges have been damaged due to the floods. Houses and shops were also damaged in some villages due to flood water. More than 50 local people and devotees were trapped due to heavy rains and landslides near the Madmaheshwar temple, located at an altitude of 11,473 feet in Uttarakhand.
Heavy rain in many districts of Rajasthan
Heavy rain has been occurring in many districts of Rajasthan for the last 24 hours. Heavy rain has occurred at many places in Karauli, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Kota, Banswara, Bhilwara, Bharatpur and Nagaur. According to IMD, there may be rain in Rajasthan for a week.
