Ranchi, 26 July (HS). BJP state president Babulal Marandi once again cornered the state government on the changing demography of Santhal Pargana. Marandi was addressing the media in the assembly premises on the first day of the monsoon session on Friday. Marandi said that the population of tribals is continuously decreasing in the entire state. There have been unexpected changes in the demography of the Santhal Pargana region. This change in demography is a threat to democracy, which is a matter of concern for everyone.
Marandi said that if any community has been affected the most in this change, it is the tribal society. Citing the data published on the basis of the census reports of 1951 and 2011, he said that in 1951, the tribal population in Jharkhand was 36 percent, Sanatani Hindus 87.9 percent and the Muslim population was 8.9 percent. Whereas in 2011, the tribal population became 26 percent and Muslims 14.5 percent and Sanatanis became 81.17 percent, i.e. the tribal population decreased, Sanatanis decreased and Muslims increased.
Marandi, while giving the statistics of Santhal Pargana, said that the situation here has reached alarming levels. There is an alarming situation here. Giving the statistics, he said that in 1951, the population of tribals in Santhal Pargana was 44.67 percent, Muslims 9.44 percent and others 45.9 percent whereas in 2011, the population of tribals decreased to 28.11 percent and the Muslim population increased to 22.73 percent. The population of others increased only to 49.2 percent.
Marandi said that these figures are clearly indicating a big change in demography. He said that not only this, but if we consider the data of the voter survey conducted by the BJP in the past days, then the number of voters has increased from 20 to 123 percent in each booth in the voter list from 2019 to 2024 in 10 assembly constituencies of Santhal Pargana. He said that the BJP has also approached the Election Commission regarding this. A memorandum has been submitted and a demand has been made for an investigation.
Marandi said that in the constitutional system of the country, reservation has been arranged for ST SC in Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha elections and jobs according to the proportion of population. Therefore, due to the decrease in the population of tribals, not only the demography is changing, but the reservation percentage will also decrease. The tribal society will suffer the most. He has written a letter to the Chief Minister demanding an SIT to investigate the reasons for the decreasing population. The Chief Minister should take immediate action and take action.
