Anchorage, Washington: The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORADE) intercepted a group of Russian and Chinese warplanes near US airspace, CNN reported citing US defense officials.

The squadron also included two Russian Tu-95 Bear bombers and two Chinese H-6 bombers. They passed through the Alaskan sector of the US Air Defense Identification Zone (EDZ) but all four were in international airspace and therefore did not cause any immediate concern, Gen. Gregory Guillot, head of the Alaska Sector of the US Northern Command, told the US House Defense Committee.

He said that Russian Tu-95 aircraft often come to this side. But the arrival of Chinese fighter planes is a new dimension and a matter of concern. Along with the Russian fighter planes, Chinese fighter planes also came which are basically modified versions of Russian Tu95 fighter planes.

From this it can be said that China has also started taking more interest in the Arctic region. He said that this shows China's ambition to move further north. China is now entering the economic sector (in the Arctic region) and even the Arctic region for scientific or technical missions. Even more worrying is what General Gillot told the US Senate Defense Committee.

This incident is worrying for the security of both the US and Canada in the Arctic region. Feature: China's desire to expand in the Arctic region makes its strategic ambitions clear. So we must be careful, as General Gregory Guillot clearly told the Senate Defense Committee.
