Washington: US President Joe Biden suddenly withdrew from the presidential race and announced his 'second in command' Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, saying, “I respect the post (of the presidency). Democracy was in danger. For me, democracy is more important than the post.” He said, “I respect this post but I believe in my country more. I am proud to serve this country as President but when democracy is in danger, protecting it is more important than any post. I get strength from democracy and enjoy working for the American people.”
Speaking from his work desk in his office, the late US President further told the public that the sacred task (of protecting democracy) is not only mine but yours as well. It belongs to your family and to all of us.
The best way to protect democracy is to pass the torch to the next generation. (Remember that the Statue of Liberty holds the torch of 'liberty'.)
This was Joe Biden's first national speech after withdrawing from the November presidential election. In addition, due to his advancing age he often forgets the leaders of his own party, often speaks incoherent things, and on the other hand, he is facing 'rivalry' from him due to his poor performance in the oratory competition against Donald Trump. The leaders of his own party were forced to back down from the reaction. Till last Saturday he was committed to staying in the race, but on Sunday he announced his withdrawal from the presidential race for the second time. Biden is the second incumbent president to withdraw from the race for the second time after Linda V. Johnson withdrew from the race for the second time in 1968.
