Washington: In the US presidential race, Indian-origin Kamala Harris is 2 points ahead of her Republican rival Donald Trump. According to a pre-election survey conducted by various news organizations on Sunday, 42 percent of voters favor Donald Trump, while 44 percent of voters prefer Kamala Harris.

Earlier, a pre-poll survey conducted last week showed that 59-year-old Harris and 78-year-old Trump both had the support of 44-44 percent of voters. But after Kamala's praise, Joe Biden went ahead by two points this week.

The survey was conducted two days after the Republican Party selected Trump as the party's presidential nominee at its national convention.

Importantly, Biden's decision to withdraw from the race caused some confusion among Democrats. But the situation changed when Joe Biden praised Kamala for serving as vice president in his place.

In a pre-election survey conducted by PBS News/Anmiar/ and Marist on Monday, Trump was 1 point ahead of Kamala with 46 percent, who had 45 percent support. In the subsequent survey, both were at the same level with 42 percent. But Biden's support to Kamala has turned the tables.

According to PBS News, 78 percent of Americans have welcomed Biden's decision to withdraw from the presidential race. Their respect for Biden has increased and voters have shifted from Biden to Kamala as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.
