Voting for the presidential election in the United States is to be held on November 5. The contest between Republican Party candidate Donald Trump and Democrat candidate Kamala Harris is now fixed. However, the Democratic Party has not yet officially declared Kamala Harris as the candidate. Democrats will choose their presidential candidate through online voting by August 8. This is according to a survey conducted on Tuesday which shows Harris ahead of Trump. According to the poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos, Harris has a 2 percent lead over Trump. The survey was conducted on Monday and Tuesday after US President Joe Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the presidential race. Earlier, President Biden surprised everyone by announcing that he would not contest the election. After his poor performance in the debate with Donald Trump on June 27, pressure started mounting on him not to contest the election.

In the survey, Kamala Harris got 44% support and Donald Trump got 42% support

Harris's team says that Kamala Harris has secured the support required to file the Democratic presidential nomination. In the July 15-16 poll, Harris and Trump were tied at 44 percent.
