Kathmandu, 24 July (HS). The government has formed a high-level investigation committee to investigate the plane crash that happened this morning at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. This investigation committee has been asked to submit its report within 45 days.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who reached the site of the plane crash, had ordered an investigation. After reaching his office from the airport, an emergency cabinet meeting was called in which several decisions were taken regarding the plane crash. The government has declared national mourning on Thursday to pay tribute to those killed in the plane crash.
Giving information about the cabinet meeting, government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung said that it has been decided to fly the national flag at half-mast tomorrow in government offices across the country and in Nepali offices abroad. He said that the entire cost of treatment of the pilot injured in this accident will be borne by the Nepal government.
The government has also decided to form a high-level investigation committee under the chairmanship of former Director General of Airport Authority Ratish Chand Lal to investigate the accident. A government spokesperson said that senior pilot Dipuraj Jwarchan, Pulchok Engineering College professor Dr. Sudeep Bhattarai and Sanjay Adhikari have also been included in this five-member investigation committee. Air Traffic Control Officer Mukesh Dangol has been made the member secretary. According to Gurung, this committee has been asked to submit its report within 45 days.
