It is worth noting that Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born on 23 July 1856 in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. He is also known as Lokmanya. Tilak is remembered for his invaluable contribution to the Indian freedom struggle. Mahatma Gandhi called him the 'maker of modern India'.
Azad was described as a 'fearless hero'
PM Modi also paid tribute to great freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad in another post. He described Azad as a fearless hero who was committed to India's freedom. PM Modi said that his ideals and thoughts resonate in the hearts of millions of people, especially the youth. Born in 1906 in Bhavra, Madhya Pradesh, Azad ran a revolutionary network and vowed never to be caught by the British.
