Kolkata, July 22 (HS). Amid the ongoing tussle with the Raj Bhavan, the swearing-in of four newly elected Trinamool Congress MLAs will take place in the Assembly on Tuesday. Assembly Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay has made this announcement. According to Assembly sources, no positive response was received from the Raj Bhavan regarding the swearing-in even on Monday. For this reason, according to the tradition of the Assembly, Ranaghat South MLA Mukutmani Adhikari, Raiganj MLA Krishna Kalyani, Maniktala MLA Supti Pandey and Bagda MLA Madhuparna Thakur will take oath on Tuesday.

The Assembly Secretariat had sent a letter to the Raj Bhavan for the swearing-in of the MLAs, but there was no mention in this regard in the letter received from the Raj Bhavan. Instead, the Raj Bhavan had asked two questions.

The first question was whether the swearing-in of Sayantika Bandopadhyay and Rayat Hussain Sarkar, who won the last by-election, was conducted by the Governor's appointed representative, Deputy Speaker Ashish Bandopadhyay or not? The Governor had received information from various news reports that Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay had conducted the swearing-in. Raj Bhavan has asked the Assembly whether this information is correct?

The second question was regarding the assembly session. The Governor had asked why the assembly session is being adjourned repeatedly instead of concluding it? Usually, a notification from the Raj Bhavan is required to convene the session again after the assembly session ends. But if the session is adjourned, it can be resumed at any time and the permission of the Raj Bhavan is not required for this.

Earlier in February, the assembly session was adjourned and then re-adjourned after convening a session for a day to attend the swearing-in of Sayantika and Rayat.

In view of these issues, the Speaker announced that the swearing-in of the four MLAs would take place on Tuesday even though no positive response has been received from the Raj Bhavan.
