Five accused of demanding extortion arrested in Seraikela

Saraikela, July 22 (HS). Police have arrested five miscreants on charges of demanding extortion of Rs 10 lakh from singer Kundan Gop, resident of Chaura village of Tiruldih police station area. The arrested accused include Badal Ghosh, Baneshwar Namta, Rajesh Namta, Sunil Kumar Mahato and Mughal Purana. Among them, Badal Ghosh, Baneshwar Namta and Rajesh Namta already have a criminal history.

According to the police, on July 18, Kundan Kumar Gop had filed a written complaint against the accused in Tiruldih police station, in which it was said that extortion of Rs 10 lakh was demanded by calling from two different mobile phones. He was threatened to be killed if the ransom was not paid. After this, the victim lodged a written complaint about the matter in Tiruldih police station the next day. Police have seized two bikes, five mobiles, a country-made pistol from the arrested accused.
