Many bills including the Economic Survey and the General Budget will be introduced during the Monsoon Session of Parliament starting from Monday. The main attraction of the session is the Union Budget to be presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday. Along with this, the India Block has made a strategy to corner the government on issues like NEET paper leak case and railway security in the session. Due to this, the Monsoon Session is expected to be tumultuous.
The monsoon session, which will run till August 12, will have 19 sittings, during which the government is expected to introduce six bills. The budget of the centrally-ruled Jammu and Kashmir will also get the approval of the Parliament during the session.
Economic survey and budget will be presented
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey in Parliament on Monday at 2:30 pm. The Finance Minister will present the Union Budget for a record seventh time.
The budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will be presented on July 23. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that 6 subjects of legislative business and 3 subjects of financial business have been provisionally identified during this session.
The upcoming Budget will be the first major policy announcement of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government after securing a third term in May.
An all-party meeting was held, these issues were raised
The all-party meeting called by the government ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament was held on Sunday morning, in which leaders of various political parties including BJP President JP Nadda, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi and Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan participated. Apart from Congress' Jairam Ramesh, K Suresh, AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi, RJD's Abhay Kushwaha, JDU's Sanjay Jha, AAP's Sanjay Singh, NCP's Praful Patel and SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the opposition demanded the government to discuss several controversial issues like the Uttar Pradesh government's order to restaurants on the Kanwar Yatra route and exam paper leaks, including the prestigious NEET. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju insisted that the government is ready for discussion, but it will be as per the rules.
